Bucket List - An Open World Game
A downloadable game for Windows and macOS
In this game, made for Brackey's Game Jam on the theme "Calm Before the Storm," you play as Billy, a nerd with no friends and no life, who faces an impending disaster—a meteor set to strike Earth in 23 hours, leading to mass extinction. With time running out, Billy has one last chance to complete his bucket list of simple, meaningful tasks before going to sleep for the final time.
The game is an open-world, active ragdoll experience, adding humor and unpredictability to Billy’s journey. You’ll guide him through a series of seemingly small but significant activities:
- Making friends (something Billy has never done before)
- Becoming a boxing champion by defeating "Tike Myson"
- Beating a race, and
- Dunking a basketball.
These tasks highlight that, even in the face of catastrophe, it's the small things in life that truly matter.
The game emphasizes immersion through ragdoll physics, making every action comically chaotic yet rewarding. The controls are simple:
- WASD for movement,
- Right-click to control Billy's right hand,
- Left-click to control his left hand,
- E to interact with objects and people.
Once you complete all the tasks, a green box appears, signaling the end of the game (a placeholder due to time constraints). Although the game has some bugs typical of a jam project, it's a fun and lighthearted experience with a deeper message about finding meaning in life’s simplest moments.
Despite the time crunch and the inherent chaos, this game brings both humor and heart, reminding players that the smallest things can make a big difference—especially when the world is about to end.
